The Embassy organized an evening of Indian classical music at the Embassy residence on 29 January. Ron Cohen, Benjamin Djubass and Sophia Solomon- all recipients of NaanDanJain Scholarships for promotion of Indian Culture, presented enchanting Indian music performances.

Shpatz presented Raga Shivaranjani on flute. Raga Shivaragini is a romantic melody, composed in the Kherewa rhythm cycle of eight beats, that is popular both in south and north Indian music traditions. Benjamin played Raga Charukeshi with an introductory Alaap followed by a 16 beat, mid-tempo melody and a fast-tempo composition. Sophia sang bollywood semi-classical and sufi titles Piya Tose Naina Lage (Guide), Iktara (Wake Up Sid). The event was concluded with a joint performance of all artists.
The Guests from all walks of life - Indian community, Israeli government, local municipality, diplomatic community, Israeli art institutions and the Embassy officials appreciated and enjoyed the performances. The event featured a brief reception before beginning of the performances with serving of Indian snacks.
